3D PRINTING

IDEAS MADE REAL

3D printing is sometimes referred to as Additive Manufacturing (AM). In 3D printing, one creates a design of an object using software, and the 3D printer creates the object by adding layer upon layer of material until the shape of the object is formed.  The object can be made using a number of printing materials, including plastics, powders, filaments and paper.

Over the past decade, technological advancements in 3D printing technology have made it a commercially-viable production technique. This has revolutionized the prototyping process in product development, as initial samples can be manufactured for assessment. So, why should your business include 3D printing in the product development process?

Design & REPLICATION

With a sturdy wernier, a steady hand and a little know how in CAD software such as Fusion 360 (or even Tinkercad) it should pose no issue to measure the dimensions of your part and recreate it digitally with said data. If the broken part is difficult to measure, you could also try to find drawings from the original manufacturer on their website.

ART & CREATIVITY

The reason why new artists are using 3D printing is a pretty obvious one that lies in the general concept of art. Art is an ever-changing idea that makes use of the latest manufacturing methods in order to showcase human-made expressions, creations, and imitations. Different production methods will visualize different ideas.
